Bonnaroo 2010 Lineup Announced

Well this is the announcement we've been waiting for. This afternoon, the people at Bonnaroo slowly rolled out the current lineup for 2010's festival. All in all it seems to be a pretty well rounded lineup, maybe a bit heavy on the indie and a bit lacking on the jam but I think that will change in the months approaching the festivals. Here is the lineup as of today:

Trey Anastasio Solo Tour

Guess what! More Phish news for all you fans out there. Well kind of, Trey Anastasio, lead guitarist and singer for Phish will be embarking on a solo tour in February. This tour will feature the classic TAB with the addition of a three piece horn section. For this run of shows Anastasio will be backed by Classic TAB members Tony Markellis on bass, Russ Lawton on drums and Ray Paczkowski on keyboards as well as a three-piece horn section featuring Jennifer Hartswick, Russ Remington and Natalie Cressman.

Bonnaroo 2010 Dates

The ninth annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will take place from June 10-13, 2010. The four-day music and camping festival will once again be held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, TN, 60 miles southeast of Nashville. The festival’s initial lineup will be confirmed in either late January or early February.

A special holiday ticket pre-sale will begin Friday, November 27 on noon. In addition, the festival is making an installment plan available for tickets buyers.

The tracklist and trailer for the new Live at Bonnaroo 2009 DVD has finally emerged. While some of the artists included came as a surprise to me, others could not have been left off for very obvious reasons. Take a look:

Bonnaroo just posted some additional acts for this summer's festivals. In addition to musicians, they also posted the first round of comedians. Check 'em out.

Artists: Public Enemy, Ani DiFranco, the Malian duo Amadou & Mariam, Shadows Fall,Heartless Bastards, Tony Rice Unit Passion Pit. High On Fire, Dillinger Escape Plan, Wailing Souls, The Itals, MURS White Rabbits, Janelle Monáe, Hockey and Pretty Lights.

Comedians: Jimmy Fallon, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Presents Bonnapoo 2009, Aziz Ansari, Michael Ian Black & Michael Showalter, Kristen Schaal, Arj Barker, Todd Barry, Rory Albanese, Wayne Federman, Nick Thune, Nick Kroll, Kurt Braunohler, Amy Schumer, Kumail Nanjiani and Pete Homes. John Oliver and Rob Riggle will also host An Evening (or Afternoon) with the Daily Show.

Turns out the rumours are true. Phish will be playing, bringing the jam roots back to the legendary Bonnaroo festival. The initial lineup looks fantastic with more artists to be announced as the festi draws nearer.

Phish to Headline Bonnaroo 2009?

Rolling Stone has recently reported rumours that Phish will be headlining Bonnaroo 2009. Financially this would be a super smart decision for the band. One big fat paycheck for playing no more than two nights of music, and none of the worry of having to organize their own festival. Around the 'net there seems to be some outrage over this rumour. Most hardcore festival goers have watched Bonnaroo slip into a corporate monstrosity straying far from its jamband routes. Who the fuck decided to let Metallica play last year anyways? That being said, its not crazy to think that Phish will play Bonnaroo AND hopefully play their own festival as well. Either way there will be a tour in 2009, and if you love music, why not see Phish at Bonnaroo along with 50 other bands? You're bound to have some fun.
