It seems that the idea of Woodstock 2009 is popping up in newspapers some more. Michael Lang who helped organized the legendary 1969 festival has stated that Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York is his number one choice of location for the 40th anniversary of the festival. It's big, it's convenient. There's public transportation - and Brooklyn's cool," said Lang, 64. "I'd love to do it. But it's been a very tough year." Lang also stated that he'd like CSNY to play the show along with jamband legends Phish and the Dave Matthews Band. "We would like to harken back to something a lot more sentimental," said Lang. "'99 was more of an MTV event. The music was much too angry for me." Lang also went on to say that he has to find the necessary $8 million to $10 million to pay for it by the end of the month if the show is going to happen.
If Woodstock 2009 can avoid heavy-metal bands like Metallica and Megadeath and lean towards some happy artists like Phish and DMB then I retract my previous statements about the festival and am all for it.
